While attending the International Travel Expo in Ho Chi Minh City (ITE HCMC 2023) last month as hosted media, I had the pleasure visiting Lacàph Coffee, one of the programmes arranged by the city’s Department Of Tourism. I was then thinking, wow, if this place was endorsed by city’s promotion, it must be good. And it was!
Walking through an old school art gallery and up the vintage staircase led us to Lacàph Bar, a surreal another world with dark brown furniture in cozy atmosphere and chill music.
Drinks at Lacàph Bar are made from Signature Filter, Espresso and Phin blends, as well as ready-to-drink Cold Brew and Cold Steeped Cascara. Guests can try the full selection of Lacàph coffees, teas and ready-to-drink products here.
Upstairs is Lacàph Space where we were served a selection of coffees that highlight the best of Lacàph Signature Blends.
Lacàph Coffee Team shares stories about the beans that make Lacàph Signature Blends, the people who grow and roast them, and how coffee has touched the very fabric of Vietnamese society since it’s arrival in the 1850s.
Our host Abby provided such an amazing experience. I learned so much about Vietnamese coffee culture. And then there was Vi, the Barista/Facilitator. His knowledge and ability to connect with the participants was outstanding. Vi shared stories about the Space, Founder (Mr. Timen) and Vietnamese coffee.
If you want to learn a compressed in-depth session about coffee origins and to experience creating one, I would recommend to go with Lacàph. If you visit HCMC, I would say book a day with them. This is only a 2-hour but worthwhile session.
It was an amazing coffee workshop. We had so much fun trying all the different coffee. I liked the coffee blossom honey in particular. They gave us snacks, showed us interesting videos, and even gave us a sneak peek at how they roast their coffee. We learned all about Vietnamese egg coffee, and were taught the origins, and steps to make it. It turned out delicious.
