Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection, improving it through green and low-carbon living. First held on April 22, 1970, it now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by EARTHDAY.ORG including 1 billion people in more than 193 countries.
On April 22, 2024, also the 55th birthday of the Earth Day, Grand Hyatt Shanghai advocated such cause.
On that day Grand Hyatt Shanghai held a theme activity “Green Earth Benefit Action”, to call on more people to better understand and participate in environmental protection; and use books to connect with the poor children in the mountainous areas of China’s Yunnan Province.

Hotel staff donating books. HYATT WORLD OF CARE a series of sustainability initiatives are actively pursued and implemented around the world, The Group’s hotels and associates are guided by the importance of caring for people and corporate responsibility.
Charity Sale. Hotel staff to sell suitable items that are lying idle at home. Proceeds from the sale are donated to poor children of mountainous areas.

Q. What is the reason behind this event?
A. Caring for everyone and making them the best they can be at Hyatt, caring for our communities is at the heart of caring for people. Each year, Hyatt hotels around the world come together to make a positive impact on our communities through our Global Month of Service initiative. In the process of exploring public welfare undertakings, we found that CIIC (China International Intellectech Co., Ltd) has its professionalism and love for public welfare. Therefore, in the past month, we have worked hand in hand with CIIC to reach a series of consensus, and have contributed to this charity sale and book donation. At the same time, we are also very happy that we can contribute to the children in the remote mountainous areas of Yunnan, we believe that the spark can start a prairie fire, and hope that we can maintain this passion and continue to work together on the road of public welfare undertakings to write a new story.
